BRANDY JOSEPH AND SHELBY RITA ARE ALL-AROUND CHAMPION AND RESERVE CHAMPION AT 2007 ZIP MEMORIAL ALL-GIRLS RODEO
WAIANAE (Sept. 9, 2007) – For the second time in three years, Brandy Joseph, Waianae; and Shelby Rita, Haleiwa; are the all-around champion and reserve champion, respectively, of the Zip Memorial All-Girls Rodeo. Joseph was the 2005 all-around champion and Rita was the 2006 all-around champion.
In addition to prize money, Joseph took home a beautiful trophy saddle, and Rita received a donated stud fee to Benito's Chance, a double-registered American Quarter Horse and International Buckskin Horse Association stallion owned by Tradewinds Quarter Horses, LLC, title sponsor of the rodeo.
The most popular event of the day, the Mixed Barrels, which was the only event in which men were allowed to enter, was won by the sister/brother team of Shelby and Levi Rita. In this event, 35 teams of one man and one woman each raced against other teams. With $1600 in added money, this one event had a total purse of $3,000.
